125th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Eminent Hindi Author Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra at Rajnandgaon

Various programs were organized in honor of the 125th birth anniversary of the esteemed literary figure, Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra, a priceless author of Nandgaon’s literary trio. These annual events are held to acknowledge Dr. Mishra’s significant contributions as a scholar of Hindi literature and as a revered figure in the literary community.

 

It is worth noting that the Chhattisgarh government also annually honors teachers in memory of Dr. Mishra. This year, two literary committees from Nandgaon city jointly organized literary programs to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary.

 

On September 12, at 9 o’clock in the morning, a ceremony was held at the premises of Digvijay College, where statues of Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra, Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh, and Padum Lal Punnalal Bakshi were unveiled. After the statue unveiling, a tribute has been paid to Dr. Mishra by the literary figures and citizens of the city. In the afternoon, at 2 o’clock, the unveiling of Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra’s new statue took place in the Higher Secondary School in Basantpur, a locality in the city.

 

The unveiling of the statue has been done with the lotus petals by Dr. Rajan Yadav, the head of the Department of Hindi and the custodian of the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya. Dr. Yadav is a renowned scholar of Indian culture and a profound expert on Tulsidas’ “Ramcharitmanas.” He has delivered over fifty lectures on the “Ramcharitmanas” to date and has published numerous research papers and books on various topics related to Hindi literature.

 

The event was attended by the city’s literary figures and esteemed citizens, with special coordination by Shri Kailash Sharma, the Principal of the school, and Rakesh Joshi, the Chairman of the School Development Committee.

 

After the unveiling of Dr. Mishra’s statue, a dialogue was organized with a focus on Dr. Mishra’s contributions, jointly conducted by Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra Personality and Works Promotion Committee and the Nandgaon Culture and Literature Council. The council organizes this dialogue every year on Dr. Mishra’s birthday. This year, the main guest for the dialogue was Dr. Rajan Yadav, who had shed light on Dr. Mishra’s works and his exceptional contributions to Hindi literature.

 

In this dialogue, Surendra Dubey was a special guest, and Prof. A.R. Dixit presided over the event. Additionally, during this dialogue, the results of the previously held Dr. Mishra Sanskrit Poetry Recitation Competition for school children and the inter-collegiate essay competition was announced and prizes has been distributed.

 

The Sanskrit poetry recitation competition organized by the committee received enthusiastic participation from school students in the city. A total of 44 students from fifteen schools in the city actively participated in reciting Dr. Mishra’s poem “Jeevan Sangeet.”

 

For postgraduate students, an essay competition was organized, and many students presented their analysis on “Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra’s Literary Contributions.” Akhilesh Chandra Tiwari, the president of the council, and Dr. Chandrasekhar Sharma, the secretary-general, have invited all the city’s literary figures, citizens, researchers, students, and participants in these events.

 

This dialogue centered around Dr. Mishra not only aimed to familiarize the audience with his life but also provided valuable insights into his literary contributions.
