Unacademy appoints ex-CRED exec Pratik Dalal as its CFO for offline business, ETCFO – industrialupdates

Edtech startup Unacademy has appointed Pratik Dalal as chief financial officer (CFO) of its offline centres business.
Dalal’s most recent position involved overseeing business finance at Cred. Before that, he served as the Vice President of Business Finance at Flipkart. Additionally, he held the role of Director of Finance at Ola, among various other prior positions.
This recent development occurred approximately three months following the reported resignation of Unacademy’s CFO, Subramanian Ramachandran.
“Pratik’s diverse experience across corporate banking, fintech and consumer internet along with his consistent ability to deliver financial success for businesses will play a pivotal role as we work towards sustained growth and profitability,” CEO Gaurav Munjal said.
Over the last two years, Unacademy has witnessed several key exits among its top-level executives. However, amidst these changes, the startup successfully curtailed its cash burn.
The unicorn experienced a significant 41 Per cent reduction in consolidated net loss, decreasing from Rs 2,847.9 Cr in the previous fiscal year to Rs 1,678.1 Cr in FY23. Concurrently, there was a noteworthy 26 per cent growth in operating revenue, rising from Rs 719.2 Cr in the preceding fiscal year to Rs 907 Cr in FY23.
